Mobile Equipment Maintenance Supervisor

As you settle into Alberta's newest mining project, you will be accountable to work with the mine maintenance, reliability, supply chain management and maintenance planning teams to establish a reliable maintenance department.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Champion Suncor's safety-driven, maintenance culture at our Fort Hills location
  • Provide maintenance expertise to build and sustain best-in-class mine maintenance programs
  • Define specific mine maintenance scopes of work, maintenance strategies and continuously seek opportunities for development of our team
  • Ensure the implementation of safe work practices and procedures throughout the maintenance team
  • Provide technical feedback and complete technical bid evaluations for maintenance assets during the procurement process
  • Manage and lead the crew in the areas of safety, productivity, work standards and maintaining documentation of each employee that will allow administration to evaluate compliance
  • Ensure that equipment availability meets or exceeds all production requirements by ensuring that our fleets are maintained in a safe manner
  • Define service strategy requirements and develop relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Support the recruitment process and supervise a team of journeymen with varying trades

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of maintenance experience in mobile equipment (such as heavy haul trucks, auxiliary equipment and shovels)
  • Three years of demonstrated supervisory experience with the ability to deliver on aggressive timelines 
  • Knowledge and experience with setting up maintenance service packages on various mining equipment such as CAT 797 or Komatsu 930 haul trucks, P&H and Hitachi shovels
  • An exceptional safety mindset - you do not take or tolerate shortcuts and if the procedure is incorrect, you strive to fix it
  • A continuous improvement mindset and you are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
  • A valid Alberta Journeyman or Red Seal Electrician, Instrumentation, Welder, Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate; or applicable mining or maintenance trade certificate or diploma or a degree in engineering
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) 
  • Experience within oil sands/petrochemical industry

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation ( 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off; 12-hour shifts) 
  • This position is safety sensitive
