Senior Reliability Engineer (Instrumentation)

Are you an expert at diagnosing and troubleshooting instrumentation equipment? Working with the Central Engineering Team for Fixed Plants, you will be engaged in dedicated support of the Fort Hills project to improve facility safety, reliability and profitability.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Support the installation, calibration, loop checks, and testing of instrumentation equipment
  • Manage continuous condition monitoring of instruments assets across Fixed Plants
  • Provide feedback on material management and updates and keep track of relevant new standards
  • Monitor instrumentation equipment performance and support senior reliability engineers in ongoing plant issues such as bad actors and required asset upgrades
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop and review inspection and repair scopes for instrumentation equipment
  • Supervise any new instrumentation design change and support the Maintenance Engineering team in the field

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Ten years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting instrumentation equipment
  • A university degree in electrical or instrumentation engineering
  • A Professional Engineering Designation (APEGA)

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Deep understanding of process and operation management
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated use of key reliability processes such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Analysis (FA)
  • Strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office and at least one industry standard ERP (preferably SAP)
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace to understand not just what you do but why you do it
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and decision-making capacity

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, with regular travel required to Fort Hills site located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
