Senior Reliability Engineer (Rotating Equipment)

Are you an expert at diagnosing and troubleshooting rotating equipment? Working with the Central Engineering Team for Fixed Plants, you will be engaged in dedicated support of the Fort Hills project to improve facility safety, reliability and profitability.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Support the installation, testing and continuous condition monitoring of rotating equipment
  • Lead equipment investigations for rotating assets, generate reports, and assign corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Assist the Operations and Maintenance Engineering site team during startup and troubleshooting of rotating equipment
  • Provide support for audits and monitor rotating equipment maintenance activities
  • Manage the vibration and oil analysis implementation program
  • Develop inspection and repair scopes for rotating equipment

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Ten years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting rotating equipment
  • A university degree in mechanical engineering
  • A Professional Engineering Designation (APEGA)

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Experience with process pumps, slurry pumps and mineral processing equipment (crushers, conveyors, apron feeders, rotary wet screens (or rotary breakers) is an asset
  • Deep understanding of process and operation management
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated use of key reliability processes such as Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Analysis (FA)
  • Strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office and at least one industry standard ERP (preferably SAP)
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace to understand not just what you do but why you do it
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and decision-making capacity

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, with regular travel required to Fort Hills site located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
