Supervisor, Mine Dispatch

Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, mine operations production, you are responsible to optimize the productive use of Suncor assets and resources to improve overburden production while ensuring a consistent delivery of oilsand feed to primary extraction in accordance with the daily production plan, and all policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety codes and work practices, standards and procedures
  • Compliance to the daily mine plan including production targets, priorities and ore feed characteristics
  • Monitor productivity targets on trucks and shovels to ensure maximum productivity
  • Ensure breaks and shift change are managed accordingly to not impact bitumen production
  • Ensure reject removal is managed to not impact bitumen production
  • Communicate and collaborate with mine and tailings supervisors to identify opportunities to maximize asset productivities and/or bitumen production while attaining priorities which includes managing frost loads in oilsand, material utilization
  • Communicate and collaborate with extraction control room specialists when issues arise and use a questioning attitude to address or escalate if required
  • Follow protocols when emergencies arise to quickly and safely get emergency response on scene

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Ten or more years of experience in Mining, preference in oil sands or refining environment with previous dispatching experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledgeable in using a Fleet Management System, preference to Modular
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong sense of ownership, with demonstrated interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple and changing priorities under tight deadlines with strong decision-making skills
  • Possess solid leadership and communication skills to interact with all functions and levels of leadership
  • Understand complex processes, and strive to develop and implement continuous improvement and creative process enhancements
