Analyst, Condition Based Monitoring Shovels

Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, reliability, you will conduct integrated health and condition based monitoring (IBM/CBM) for our shovel fleets including monitoring and assessing output of shovel real-time wireless IHM systems, as well as other CBM sources including tooth monitoring, structural measurement tracking, and oil analysis.

Key Accountabilities

  • Use IHM real-time wireless applications to conduct CBM monitoring and data analysis
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical fault codes and trends, assess risk, and provide maintenance action recommendations through SAP notifications
  • Employ equipment health monitoring tools to develop condition alarm thresholds, trends and technical operating envelopes
  • Work closely with reliability and maintenance engineers in trending and predictive analysis
  • Liaise with equipment manufacturers and reliability engineers to continuously improve on CBM data, reduce false alarm rates and optimize trends for predictive purposes
  • Assess oil analysis reports and identify action requirements
  • Support integrated health monitoring improvement projects
  • Track and report on CBM data, key performance indicators as well as maintenance “save” tracking
  • Support our reliability team in the use of data for post-incident and failure investigations

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Two or more years of direct condition base monitoring experience for mobile mining/ heavy equipment or similar equipment in a relevant industry
  • Experience in employing real-time IHM system applications such as Prevail, MIDAS,  Minecare is preferred
  • Field maintenance experience on CAT7495 and/or PH4100 cable shovels or similar equipment is a strong asset
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering degree, or a Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyman certificate
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of SAP is an asset
  • Solid understanding and experience in interpreting oil sampling results and the ability to use the IHM system application for analysis, trend development, and reporting
  • Well-developed critical thinking, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions
  • Strong analytical skills including analyzing data, conducting root cause assessment and drawing, and presenting conclusions and recommendations
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to make decisions with integrity and support company objectives and policies
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
