Job Overview

Reporting to the team leader, learning and capability development for oil sands, you will develop and implement strategies to manage competency for oil sands personnel in an efficient and effective way.  

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct learning needs analysis based on job, task or content analysis
  • Write statements of performance objectives based on specific learning outcomes
  • Design instructional materials and select appropriate method of instruction and delivery of learning
  • Implement learning interventions by providing logistical support and detail to administrative arrangements
  • Create evaluation strategies that define learner competency, instruction competency and quality of programs
  • Demonstrate use of appropriate transactions in support of the learning management system (LMS)
  • Implement requested changes to training and development strategies, service delivery reporting, stewardship, monitoring and record-keeping and provide recommendations on path forward

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • 3-5 years relevant experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a training and development business processes and its ongoing management
  • Valid Alberta journeyman instrumentation certificate or an interprovincial red seal journeyman instrumentation certificate; attach your journeyman / red seal ticket with your application in order to be considered
  • Adult education training, with formal training certification preferred

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of the Learning Management System
  • A strong understanding of effective blended learning principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft office programs (Word , Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Apply sound educational practices and principles
  • Follow business processes for training and development for the area
  • Recognize gaps in the current training and development business process structure, problem solve to determine improvements, and provide business cases for positive change
  • Understanding the roles and responsibilities of bargaining unit employees to identify learning needs

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
