Job Overview

Do you have experience with SAGD at operating sites? Working with the manager, operations at our MacKay River site, you will partner with maintenance and engineering to provide support regarding the safe and reliable maintenance of field assets and outages. You will be the main contact for field operations break-in work, completions work, and optimization of all planned and unplanned events.

Key Accountabilities

  • Engage in the day-to-day issues with maintenance to find solutions that support the operation of the plant
  • Prioritize and continuously improve the weekly schedule, preventative maintenance optimization and organize the pressure safety valve inspections
  • Coordinate weekly schedules, planned outages and emergency break-in work
  • Oversee the planned inspection program for all field assets
  • Provide input and support the turnaround activities and planning for major equipment outages
  • Lead the daily notification approval meeting and the end of day work and permit meeting
  • Handle deferrals and ensure that there are no overdue inspections
  • Conduct quarterly and annual audits of the critical valve management program and critical lock removal process
  • Ensure risk assessments for maintenance work and planned outages are reviewed in advance and implemented before any work commences
  • Lead troubleshooting initiatives to ensure appropriate resources are available
  • Provide coverage for steam chief as required

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five or more years of field operations or related experience in upgrading, refinery or the energy industry
  • Prior operator, planning, coordinator, supervisory or leadership experience is an asset
  • Preference for experience within in situ operations
  • 3rd class power engineering certification is mandatory with expectations to achieve 2nd class within 12 months; valid 2nd class is preferred
  • Mechanical diploma, degree or trade certification will also be considered
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Computer proficiency, specifically in Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Deep understanding of our maintenance and reliability standard
  • You collaborate with others developing positive relationships in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You are enthusiastic in nature and strive to improve processes and performance in all aspects of your work
  • You hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same

Working Conditions

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
  • The shift schedule is a 4 days on/3 days off rotation
  • Availability to work additional hours based on business requirement and need
