Ground Transportation Coordinator

Are you passionate about discovering new ways to increase efficiency at work? In this role you will optimize routes and schedules for more efficient transportation of Suncor’s employees within the work sites, as well as, to and from the residential areas of Fort McMurray. You will also be responsible to work with Suncor’s third party busing providers to achieve higher utilization rates and lower costs through smarter routes, schedules, and fleet management.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Help bring Operational Excellence to Suncor’s Field Logistics, specifically in Ground Transportation (bussing)
  • On-going vehicle planning and scheduling management operating system
  • Strategize and recommend upgrades to routes, schedules, and passenger loading. 
  • Performance variance analysis and action planning
  • Develop bussing plans for temporary services (i.e. Major Projects, Turnarounds)
  • Conduct various audits such as pre/post trip audits, and route and schedule audits.
  • Support Field Logistics Lodging, Aviation and Business Services with schedules to accommodate the aerodrome and lodge busing requests
  • Support improvements resulting from customer feedback

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 3+ year’s experience in  transportation planning and scheduling
  • Have a working knowledge of the Emergency Response Plans
  • Advanced knowledge of Logistics and Route planning
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Solid experience in customer relations and building strong interpersonal relationships
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Good understanding of the Alberta Transportation and Safety Act
  • Good understanding of municipal by-laws with regards to public and commercial ground transportation

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • On call will be required on a roational basis
  • We require qualified and safety-focused employees for business-critical roles that maintain our commitment to operational excellence and reliable operations.
