Human Resources Strategic Business Partner

Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, human resources (HR) strategic partners, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the business. You will be embedded in the base plant upstream business unit and will provide advice and apply critical thinking to opportunities impacting human resource disciplines.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead HR cycles such as performance management, compensation, career development, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Strong communication to champion talent pipeline conversations
  • Supports organizational effectiveness and identifies gaps and strategic opportunities that impact business results
  • Partner with groups across multiple operations, as well as with the HR centres of expertise (COE’s) to support the implementation of the OS people strategy
  • Champions key issues and activities that flow from the people strategy
  • Leads culture and talent outcomes in support of strategic objectives
  • Coach leadership to enable team effectiveness and leadership alignment
  • Maintain positive relationships with COE’s and onsite labour relations, employee relations, OE and Talent Acquisition teams
  • Design and quickly implement solutions that cut across multiple disciplines; even those beyond people and organizational solutions
  • Serve as the HR lead on medium to large projects both within the business and across the functional groups

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five or more years of experience in an HR function
  • Experience supporting a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources management or other related field
  • Certified professional in human resources (CPHR) designation is an asset

 Skills and Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of HR policies, programs and processes
  • Action-oriented and a highly organized problem solver
  • Strong work ethic and expert analytical skills
  • Positive relationship management and collaborating skills in order to cultivate positive and effective relationships with client groups and key partners
  • The ability to think and act strategically
  • Adaptable to change and able to work in a fast paced environment
