Learning Coordinator, Fixed Plants Operations

Job Overview

Reporting to the team lead, learning upgrading operations, you will develop and implement learning strategies to ensure a high level of competency for all of our fixed plants employees. You will collaborate and advise area management on training topics and methodologies, and work with area personnel to develop and assign competence tools and qualification requirements for operating positions conducted through learning needs and a gaps analysis.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and sustain operator training, training programs, and associated learning materials while striving for safety above all else
  • Implement strategies to support change and continuous improvement initiatives at all levels of our organization
  • Recognize gaps in the current training and development business process structure, identify improvement opportunities, and provide business cases for positive change
  • Facilitate, document, develop, design and update training materials with trainers, vendors, and subject matter experts that meet or exceed legislative and company competency policies
  • Facilitate the task analysis process by working with subject matter experts to determine the scope and range of positions and to identify gaps between critical tasks and procedures
  • Create evaluation strategies that define learner competency, instruction competency and quality of programs to meet the needs of fixed plants operations
  • Design and conduct field evaluations for  operator training
  • Ensure all records and archives of training and development related information are timely and accessible
  • Create, plan and run reports from various data sources with a view to future company growth and skill requirements
  • Organize and facilitate the new hire onboarding process.
  • Develop criterion tests for the classroom, computer base training delivery and evaluation checklists for field training

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Three to five years of experience in training and development of business processes
  • Previous experience working in a plant operations environment is an asset
  • Adult learning certification or equivalent
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of effective blended learning principles, processes and systems
  • You are proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, Livelink, SAP, Internet Explorer, Operator Log Tool, etc.
  • Ability to work with diverse partners, manage conflict and foster an environment of continuous improvement and shared learning across our organization
  • Adaptive work style, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, challenging demands and function in a dynamic and diverse work environment
  • You make decisions with integrity using strong organizational and communication skills that identifies, analyzes and generates alternatives to challenges and drive results
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter that collaborate with others and maintain positive relationships across different teams in the organization

Working Conditions

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
