In this role you will support our upgrading business unit in Fort McMurray as a highly effective maintenance planner. You will use your technical knowledge and strong understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling concepts to identify and manage all factors relevant to achieving safe, environmentally responsible and cost effective maintenance planning. You will use your expertise to:

  • Identify and follow our environment health and safety policies, standards and procedures
  • Work closely with various teams across our company to develop seamless interfaces between functions, to enable the safe, consistent and reliable planning of all maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with all our relevant policies and standards including the Management of Change (MOC) process and maintenance business processes and provide input into the development of area-specific procedures and standards
  • Prepare job plans to include the logical sequencing of associated tasks, taking into account multi-craft alignment with the planned cost ready for scheduling
  • Maintain, improve and optimize our job plans, task lists, strategies and procedures through continuous improvement initiatives and techniques
  • Improve resource productivity by identifying labour, materials, special tools, external services, rentals and documentation
  • Create and maintain items and associated task lists from approved equipment strategy data sheets

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Three years of planning experience working in oil and gas, mining or a similar industrial environment
  • Acquired three years of related working knowledge of maintenance and reliability in mining, fixed plant, utilities or infrastructure
  • A mechanical trade certificate or diploma in a relevant technical field or equivalent technical and operational experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (preferably SAP) and material management systems
  • A strong understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling concepts as well as maintenance practices, performances measures, scheduling tools and techniques
  • The ability to read and interpret equipment specifications, engineering drawings, single line diagrams, isometric drawings, charts, tables, and study sample parts
  • An adaptive work style with an ability to handle multiple priorities, challenging demands and function in a positive but dynamic work environment
  • Motivation and initiative and can make decisions with integrity in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • The proven ability to effectively communicate and interact with others across a multitude of business units to develop and build strong positive working relationships

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Operations in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
