Maintenance Planner

Reporting to the planning and scheduling lead within extraction maintenance, you will be accountable for the planning of labour, materials, external services, access methods, and equipment rentals for both daily plant maintenance activities and outages/turnarounds events

You will use your expertise to:

  • Identify and handle all factors relevant to achieving safe, environmentally responsible and cost effective maintenance plans
  • Improve resource productivity by identifying mechanical availability while minimizing costs for the equipment while ensuring that safety is built into every work order
  • Work closely with various teams to develop seamless interfaces between functions, to enable the safe, consistent and reliable planning of all maintenance activities
  • Manage and adjust planning priorities according to a combination of factors such as operational requirements, plant risk, defect analysis, and major event calendar dates
  • Prepare job plans to include the logical sequencing of associated tasks, taking into account multi-craft alignment.
  • Maintain and continuously improve job plans and task lists, through analysis of previous work order history, soliciting planning feedback, performing workplace observations, and field walk downs
  • Ensure compliance to all of our relevant policies and standards including the management of change (MOC) process and maintenance business processes and provide input into the development of procedures and standards
  • Be a key member in the integrated maintenance team, working hand-in-hand with reliability engineers, supply chain management, and operations

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of maintenance and reliability experience in fixed plant, with at least two of those years being hands-on planning experience
  • Mechanical trade certificate or diploma in a relevant technical field or equivalent technical and operational experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite with working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (preferably SAP)
  • Deep understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling concepts as well as maintenance practices, performance measures, scheduling tools and techniques
  • Proven strong safety mindset and display a preventative and contingency based approach to planning with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Capable of handling several tasks while focusing on quality and completion of deliverables
  • Exceptionally strong communication and social skills, with the ability to work professionally with others at various levels
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter who makes decisions with integrity and supports company objectives and policies

 

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant location in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
