Maintenance Support Services Director

You will report directly to the Vice President of Maintenance Services, and be accountable to provide integrated maintenance support services (Cranes, Pressure and VAC, Labour Services, Scaffolding, Rental Equipment, Electrical Instrumentation and Insulation and Shop Services) to all maintenance teams across the Fort McMurray region.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Deliver a safe, reliable cost-effective system of integrated maintenance support services across site
  • Manage relationships with external vendors who supply maintenance services to ensure they meet Suncor standards
  • Build a foundation of standards and practices to meet business plan goals
  • Manage large contracts
  • Drive operational excellence in maintenance support services, including a culture of continuous improvement
  • Execute the Environmental Health and Safety program and reinforce a culture of compliance to ensure the safety and health of all Maintenance employees
  • Identify, develop and implement short and long term service delivery and improvement strategies to reduce redundancy in service, manage risk and exploit opportunities
  • Develop and steward the budget for maintenance activities
  • Identify and implement compliance and skill training to meet the developmental needs of the maintenance organization

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 15-20 years of oil and gas experience
  • Experience managing large budgets ($300M per year)
  • Demonstrated the ability to manage large organizations while continuously improving the business
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build key relationships with cross-functional, internal and external stakeholders
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Someone who has the ability and willingness to grow and move to other opportunities within Suncor

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant location in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
