You will use your expertise to:

  • Craft bench plans in alignment with the mine forecast, and the mid-range plan and life of mine plan
  • Take initiative and tour the operating environment to understand the progress relative to plans and confirm operating conditions
  • Communicate opportunities and risks to the team lead
  • Support the creation of the rolling two week overburden plan
  • Update construction plans
  • Build execution sequences for bench and ramp construction
  • Provide stewardship on milestone progress

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Three years of planning experience in mining, geology or civil earthworks
  • Experience with Minescape and/or Mine Sight, Microsoft Office, and Runge (RPM Global)
  • A degree in mining, civil, geological engineering or geology
  • Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist or Member in Training, or eligibility to register within the province of Alberta
  • An understanding of mine production, efficiency and planning metrics and a basic understanding of mining block models and their application to mine planning
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace

Preference for:

  • Surface mining experience, or large scale civil earthworks projects
  • An awareness or experience with autonomous haul systems would be considered an asset

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
