In this role, you will provide advice and collaborate on Workers Compensation (WC) claims to assess and identify potential occupational risk factors and mitigation strategies, as well as provide expertise and support to Health and Wellness (H&W) and the promotion of healthy workplaces and other priority company-wide initiatives.

 

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide expertise on accommodation processes and procedures and support delivery of the IDM program
  • Conduct on-site functional assessments of the employee’s ability to safely perform the duties of the identified position and provide opinion on the suitability of job duties against identified job demands and potential accommodation options
  • Conduct job demands analysis (JDA) on critical positions in support of the delivery of H&W’s Risk Based Health Assessments program
  • Liaise and collaborate internally and externally with key partners, including our Case Manager, the Site Services team, Occupational Hygienists, Ergonomists, leaders, employees and community rehabilitation program providers to gain and share insight into the employee’s functioning to aid in the development of a suitable return to work plan.

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Four years of practical related experience in a clinical and/or work based setting
  • A Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent experience and education
  • An appropriate professional designation
  • Basic knowledge of Workers Compensation legislation, policies, and procedures, short term disability plans and long term disability contracts
  • Leadership skills with the ability to execute scope to meet timelines
  • A demonstrated ability to deal with conflict and emotionally-charged situations
  • Thorough knowledge of human rights, privacy and other applicable legislation
  • Prioritization, critical thinking and analytical skills to enable you to effectively manage competing time demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and you have a strong ability to influence without authority
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Superior knowledge in occupational therapy best practices in a business setting, specifically with on-site assessments, conducting JDA and accommodation strategies
  • Familiarity with Cority
  • Strong Microsoft Office suite computer skills
  • Demonstrated strength in working independently and driving results
  • Adaptive work style with an ability to handle multiple priorities, challenging demands and function positively in a dynamic work environment

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • There is an alternative to work from our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way
  • You will be required to travel to our Fort McMurray Site locations, on a monthly basis
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
