Process Automation Applications and Cyber Security Specialist

  • Maintain and improve the reliability and performance of a wide range of process control systems and related applications with an emphasis on cyber security
  • Apply industry standards such as the International Society of Automation (ISA), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and Canadian Standards Association (CSA), including NIST, ISA/IEC 62443, NERC-CIP
  • Continuously improve existing processes to best support our internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with fellow team members across the region

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of relevant experience in an industrial setting
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrical or Instrumentation Certificate, or a technical diploma
  • Registered or eligible to register immediately as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or as a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • A proven ability to use critical thinking skills to identify solutions and eliminate problems at the root cause
  • Superior collaboration skills that enable you to build solid, positive relationships with diverse groups in a fast-paced environment
  • A continuous improvement mindset and the desire to seek greater knowledge and understanding
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • The foundational skills and knowledge required to maintain secure Operational Technology (OT) systems, with applications such as SolarWinds and PAS Cyber Integrity
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server, SQL and of networking technologies
  • Knowledge of process controls applications such as Emerson AMS, PAS Plant State Suite (PSS), and Visual Basic
  • Knowledge of control systems such as Honeywell Safety Manager, Allen Bradley PLCs, Honeywell Experion PKS/TPS/TDC3000 System, or Triconex

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Operations in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
