Senior Automation Specialist

You will use your expertise to:

  • Maintain and improve the reliability and performance of a wide range of process control systems
  • Continuously improve existing processes for supporting our internal stakeholders
  • Provide commissioning and start up support for our dynamic projects
  • Collaborate with fellow team members and Cross Functional Teams (CFT) across the region to deliver safe and reliable control systems
  • Work in partnership with our vendors to develop and maintain long term strategies for our process control systems
  • Apply a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) philosophy to optimize process control systems and ensure safe and reliable operations

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Process automation experience in an industrial setting
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrician, Power Engineering or Instrumentation Certificate, or Technical Diploma
  • Been registered, or are eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or as a Certified Engineering Technologist with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology (ASET) Professionals of Alberta
  • A proven ability to use critical thinking skills to identify solutions and eliminate problems at the root cause
  • Superior collaboration skills that enables you to build solid, positive relationships with diverse groups in a fast-paced environment
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Proven skills and knowledge of control systems such as, Honeywell Experion PKS/TPS/TDC3000 System and/or Safety Manager, Triconex or Allen Bradley PLCs and FactoryTalk HMI

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
