Specialist, Rotating Equipment

Are you an expert at diagnosing and troubleshooting rotating equipment? Do you have experience working at a SAGD facility? Working with the maintenance and reliability manager for MacKay River – In Situ, you will be responsible for conducting, interpreting and assessing machinery diagnostics utilizing various technologies such as vibration monitoring, ultrasonic, and oil analysis to ensure the MacKay River rotating assets perform at a high level and reach the agreed availability targets in a cost effective and sustainable manner.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide troubleshooting support for emerging risks related to rotating assets on a daily/weekly basis and responding to timely mitigating actions for the area business unit
  • Lead equipment investigations for rotating assets, generate reports, and assign corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Build SAP work notifications for repair, replacement or upgrade of rotating equipment as required based on field observations
  • Build repair scopes for onsite and offsite repairs such as pumps, gearboxes, motors, compressors, and rotary dryer
  • Work with site millwrights to collect, interpret and assess the vibration and oil data to ensure monthly key performance indicator compliance
  • Prepare and/or optimize maintenance check sheets for shop/field repairs for rotating equipment
  • Perform quality control for critical shop overhauls of equipment
  • Oversee rotating equipment activities on major outages and turnarounds from scope development through to execution focusing on reliability improvements, quality field execution
  • Support the MacKay River on-call schedule as required

 

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 5+ years of hands on experience troubleshooting rotating equipment.
  • Category II Vibration Certification
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) including SAP, Machinery Health Manager (MHM)
  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Millwright Certificate
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Experience in operating oil facilities is required. Specific experience in in-situ facilities is an asset

Preference for:

  • Advanced knowledge and field experience in vibration and lubrication collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge in mechanical seals troubleshooting and API 682 seal piping plans.
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes and hazards in the workplace to understand not just what you do but why you do it
  • You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • This position is located at our MacKay River site located in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
  • Working shift is Monday to Thursday 4 days on (10 hours/day) and 3 days off.
  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive.
  • Transportation to site is provided from town.
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
