Specialist Electrical & Instrumentation

Are you ready to develop Electrical and Instrumentation (E/I) solutions to enhance our systems reliability? If so, this is the role for you!  By working with the E/I coordinators, technicians and engineers it will be your responsibility to ensure that all E/I equipment in the Upgrading area meets or exceeds the targets for equipment availability. Executing this work in a safe and efficient manner is paramount.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Implement adequate measurements to monitor our equipment availability compliance targets
  • Maintain and operate equipment within safe operating limits and in compliance with standards and procedures
  • Work and communicate effectively with cross shifts to establish consistency
  • Offer technical support to engineering, operations, E/I supervisors, planners, technicians, and cross functional teams
  • Conceive, engineer, design and fabricate reliability improvements
  • Implement cost reductions through SAP notification validity screening and removal
  • Provide P0/P1 response to critical plant issues and support
  • Ensure proactive analysis of critical systems through network programs and implement the appropriate path forward prior to an issue occurring (Trending, AMS, System1)
  • Enter Management of Change (MOC), notifications or Enablons

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of industry experience with an automation and electrical focus
  • Strong E/I design and electrical drawing experience
  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrical Certificate or a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record
  • Outstanding collaboration skills that enables you to build solid, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Instrument, analyzer, and trouble shooting
  • Computer proficiency, specifically in Microsoft Office and SAP

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • This position is safety sensitive
