Supply Chain Management Business Partner, Turnaround

In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for leading Supply Chain Management (SCM) activities, focusing on end-to-end processes including procurement and coordinating for materials and services during the turnaround events.  You will also be accountable for resolving performance issues, sponsoring process improvements, and initiating/implementing procurement strategies and channels.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Drive compliance within supply operations and the business with SCM policies, processes, procedures and strategies
  • Analyze and steward critical metrics, drive actions plans to improve compliance, efficiency and reduce transactional work
  • Understand supply strategies and lead implementation of strategies for day to day site procurement
  • Develop/maintain contract plans, ensure procurement planning in compliance with existing strategies/contracts and initiate development of new strategies
  • Collaborate with contracting and procurement team to maintain alignment on business priorities and to ensure timely delivery of procurement strategies
  • Collaborate with diverse groups including reliability, engineering, and materials management teams to develop material master data and set up safety stock levels. Ensure timely material availability to support execution of preventive and corrective maintenance strategies
  • Demonstrate ownership and leadership to resolve issues as well as assist the team in critical and expedited procurement
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers, lead the execution of our spend for the assigned business areas, and provide guidance on contractor’s performance and cost reduction activities

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five or more years of related experience; preferably in SCM with a deep understanding of end-to-end business processes (TAMP, purchasing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, work order life cycle, kitting/staging, reverse logistics, and warehousing)
  • A post-secondary education; preferably in a related technical field or business
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and working knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and decision-making capacity
  • The ability to work in a high-stress environment
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle competing priorities while managing time appropriately in changing operational environments

Preference for:

  • Experience of leading a team, project, or improvement initiatives
  • Experience in procurement and/or contracts
  • Experience with inventory management and warehouse operations

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the ability to provide afterhours/weekend support as required, particularly during the turnaround execution window.
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
