Supply Chain Operations Manager

We have a great opportunity for you to demonstrate your Supply Chain Management (SCM) knowledge to help us stand-up and drive efficiencies for our new regional operating model in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). You will provide strong leadership and oversee the activities and performance of your SCM operations staff team, supporting operational services in the region.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Lead supply chain planning, scheduling and coordinating activities, and implement procurement strategies while ensuring a total cost of ownership approach to procurement
  • Lead, direct, and manage SCM operations activities by collaborating with core supply chain functions to meet requirements for materials and services
  • Assist procurement professionals in critical and expedited procurement as necessary
  • Resolve issues related to the procurement process raised by direct reports
  • Manage buyers to identify sources of supply from our pre-qualified supplier list
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and oversee execution of our spend with each supplier within a category
  • Work with category management to maintain alignment and exchange qualitative information on purchasing and contracting
  • Obtain and review business partner and end-user requirements for material and/or service needs
  • Collaborate with supply chain operation peers to drive consistency, resource plan, performance management and succession planning
  • Steward SCM metrics to business areas and work collaboratively to ensure alignment and drive improvements

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five or more years of progressive SCM leadership experience
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Deep knowledge in SCM operations (contracts, procurement, planning/scheduling etc.) or materials management
  • The ability to collaborate with different business units and across all levels in an organization to achieve the best results
  • Strong conflict resolutions skills to address potentially conflicting needs and priorities
  • Strong leadership skills and you can hold others accountable
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Oil and gas, manufacturing, or operations industry experience
  • A post-secondary degree

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible candidates
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
