You will use your expertise to:

  • Show your dedication and support the terminal operation to improve our safety culture and overall safety performance on our Journey to Zero path
  • Provide mentorship and training to drivers to ensure familiarity with terminal automation, loading equipment, company rules, emergency procedures and safety policies
  • Hook up and offload trucks and complete documentation as required
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment including tank roof inspections, boiler monitoring and tank level verification
  • Monitor equipment conditions regularly and address any deviations in a timely manner
  • Issue or authorize work permits in accordance with our standards
  • Maintain and exchange a detailed account of the day’s activities and actions taken to mitigate risks and to ensure optimal shift transitions
  • Maintain proficiencies by reading and understanding new procedures or relevant changes to the manuals and documentation, and ensure regulatory training and certifications are up to date

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s licence with a driving record acceptable to Suncor
  • Strong communication skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Proven safety and continuous improvement attitude with the capacity to actively participate in all safety initiatives
  • The capability to work independently and possess strong problem solving, decision-making and analytical skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to organization changes and manage multiple tasks and high stress situations
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Two years of experience in rail and / or truck liquid product handling
  • Experience working with computerized equipment such Toptech

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • The individual will work out of our Grand Junction terminal office in Colorado, located at 2230 Railroad Avenue
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs and on-call rotation every 5th week
  • This position is safety sensitive and overtime eligible
  • This role requires the individual to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in an all-weather outdoor environment as well as within confined spaces
