Analyst, US Crude Risk

You will use your expertise to:

  • Analyze and publish the daily risk management exposure reports, profit and loss report, and related reporting requirements for the U.S. crude and products trading business
  • Administer basic risk governance policies and standards on the U.S.-based trading business
  • Operate as the main day-to-day risk function contact person for the U.S. crude trading business
  • Collaborate across functions to support growth of new business initiatives
  • Identify potential areas of concern under subject matter expertise, and bring forward to senior leaders for further guidance, review and action
  • Look for continuous improvement opportunities in processes and systems

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • At least three years of front or mid-office experience within commodity trading
  • University degree, preferably in business, economics, mathematics or computer science
  • Working knowledge of Energy Trading Risk Management systems (e.g. Commodity XL, Open Link, Allegro)
  • Basic knowledge of risk management concepts and the trading cycle
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex formulae, macros)
  • Proven capacity to multitask, working under daily deadlines and employing a continuous improvement mindset
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Experience in a crude oil and/or products trading environment
  • Experience in a large organization with complex operations and a strong sophisticated control environment
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and VBA
  • Working towards a professional accounting (CPA, CMA, CGA) or a finance designation (CFA, FRM, ERP)
  • Demonstrate a high level of intellectual curiosity for understanding commodity compliance, finance, and commerce
  • Proficient with analyzing complex sets of data, and able to independently problem solve
  • You are detail oriented and have a high degree of accuracy, with the ability to perform tasks in an open and dynamic environment
  • You have effective social skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills which allows you to build strong, positive relationships

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Houston office, located at 2 Allen Centre, 1200 Smith St.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Flexibility in work hours required as a U.S. based holiday calendar is followed
