Mechanical Engineering Student

In this position, you will support the terminal engineers in the management of capital projects and provide ongoing support to the terminal network operations.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Help to ensure that the national terminal network facilities meet all regulatory requirements, assist in risk assessments and process hazards analyses of facilities and projects
  • Assist in the management of the extensive inventory of terminal facility and project engineering drawings and documentation
  • Help to improve the national terminal network facility reliability
  • Provide assistance in the standardization of equipment, vendors and contractors across the terminal network
  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of candidate new equipment, technologies and best practices

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrolment in 3rd or 4th year of a full-time Mechanical Engineering degree at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

Preference for:

  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database proficiency within Microsoft Office as well as SAP
  • General mechanical engineering knowledge including an understanding of performance indicator data, hydraulic schematics, HVAC drawings, plot plans, P&IDs, General Arrangement drawings, etc.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to internal and external audiences
  • A self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset who is results oriented and motivated by accuracy

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Downstream head office in Mississauga, located at 2489 North Sheridan Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • This is a 12-month work term, from May 2019 to April 2020
