Product Owner Advisor (Petro-Canada)

In this temporary role, you will act as the expert for our Petro-Canada Wholesale business system processes, applications, and associated interfaces, which support site level financial data and inventory management. You are responsible for defining Wholesale systems capabilities and features based on the product’s overall vision and customer experience, ensuring alignment to our Sales and Marketing business capability roadmap.


You will use your expertise to:

  • Develop and sustain our Wholesale back office system (WTBS), including identifying opportunities for new functional development, system enhancement projects, business process automation, and changes to support new initiatives and strategies
  • Ensure continuity of business activities and provide business knowledge and experience to special projects and programs
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders including: Wholesale Marketers, Business Managers, and the Development team to make sure goals are clear and the vision is aligned with business objectives
  • Provide 3rd level problem resolution for end users including complex analysis to identify core issue
  • Raise and follow up on issues requiring Information Technology (IT) operations support, including detail enhancements and reporting
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities proactively to simplify our systems and processes, including consulting with external user groups and vendors
  • Advise business owners of system abilities and limitations
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and testing of business driven promotional activities
  • Support the operationalization of business strategy

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years of experience in Wholesale operations, working with related back office systems
  • A University degree or College diploma in Computer Science, Business or a related discipline
  • IT knowledge (e.g. databases, tables, interfaces, SAP)
  • Deep understanding of the Wholesale Tertiary Business System (WTBS) and its interfaces
  • Good business and technical acumen in accounting and inventory management systems
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • Proven requirement gathering, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Expert communication skills with non-authoritative leadership and interpersonal skills and an ability to manage and influence change
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Project management or agile experience

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Downstream head office in Mississauga, located at 2489 North Sheridan Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • This is a temporary role for approximately 12 months
