Project Controls Analyst

You will be responsible for the accurate and timely capture of capital budgets and expenditures for all Distribution projects with involvement in the process from the Management of Change (MOC) phase through to the close out phase.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Monitor actual expenditure against approved funding while consolidating project execution metrics, including cost and schedule performance
  • Understand all of our project phases, activities performed in each phase and deliverables at the end of each phase
  • Upload Appropriation Requests (AR) in SAP Investment Management Module
  • Create Approval for Expenditure (AFE) and link them to AR’s and MOC then submit them for approval in Livelink workflow
  • Create and submit supplemental AFE applications, Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) movements within Position IDs, closeouts, capital rollover's for year-end, negative AFE’s and the setup of assets for closure
  • Own the process to create and maintain full work breakdown structures for capital and expense projects in SAP Project Builder Module
  • Consolidate information from various capital projects and facilitate the monthly review for accuracy as well as compiling and presenting forecasts and metrics
  • Build strong positive relationships while providing Capital Planner’s with the most recent information regarding the capital portfolio to facilitate decision-making
  • Seek continuous improvement opportunities focused on changes to business practices and procedures to better reflect project reporting needs
  • Coordinate changes in project controls processes, systems, and procedures

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five years related experience with proficiency in basic accounting and finance processes
  • Proficiency with Project Management Processes
  • Proven advanced non-authoritative leadership skills to influence and manage diverse groups
  • Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Five years of experience with knowledge of Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) concepts
  • A post-secondary education with project management training
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint and SAP
  • A highly motivated individual with continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical skills and decision-making capacity
  • Strong knowledge of project management processes and fundamentals

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Downstream head office in Mississauga, located at 2489 North Sheridan Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • You thrive in a dynamic work environment with multiple priorities, challenging demands, and strict deadline
