Analyst Inventory

Job Overview

Reporting to the team leader, inventory accounting you will be responsible for preparing and analyzing crude inventory valuation, reporting and reconciliation. You will also look for continuous improvement opportunities to streamline Inventory accounting processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparing our valuation of crude inventory based on first-in first-out (FIFO) methodology for the Sarnia refinery
  • Responsible for our intercompany billings of refinery’s sales of refined products
  • Consolidating monthly inventory summary for three regions
  • Working with distribution to ensure month-end accruals are booked in the system
  • Handling intersegment profit elimination between Suncor companies
  • Handling working capital analysis for supply and inventory related accounts
  • Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Submitting the refined inventory reporting for Stats Canada
  • Collaborating with supply operations, accounting and other key partners to work on ad hoc initiatives

Required Qualification

Experience and Education

  • Four or more years’ accounting and analytical experience
  • Bachelor degree in finance or related field
  • CPA, CMA/CGA designation
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of SAP accounting, sales and distribution and material management modules
  • Strong computer skills including advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookup, etc)
  • Independent thinker and able to build and understand complex excel models
  • Demonstrate process improvement mindset
  • You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
