Senior Market Intelligence Analyst

Our growing Strategy Integration and Development (SI&D) team is looking for someone who has a real passion for analytics and is experienced in researching and gathering market data and intelligence, and translating it into meaningful reports and insights that can be used to inform our refined products strategy.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Analyze information on markets, segments, channels, customers and competitors focusing on comparisons, performance insights and market trends
  • Translate refined products trends, including renewable fuels markets outlook to help inform our Downstream strategy
  • Monitor global product flows including market dislocation opportunities to develop predictive models for the future
  • Evaluate announcements, regulatory news, quarterly and investor reports, financial filings, press releases, etc., of key competitors and put into context their impact on our strategy
  • Provide a continuous market scan by analyzing qualitative data, trends, strategies and competitor strategies aimed at growing Suncor’s competitiveness
  • Build presentations and reports on a monthly basis to help facilitate conversation on strategic outlook at our senior leadership tables
  • Identify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities to improve our strategic development processes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Six years of related analytical experience
  • Experience building, maintaining, analyzing and evaluating large and complex data files
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, business, or economics
  • An understanding of refined product markets and refinery operations
  • Strong economic, mathematical, technical and statistical skills and are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced in Excel
  • Expert utilization of visual aids (charts, graphs, and others) with superior storytelling skills
  • Exceptional communication skills; you are able to translate complex and detailed concepts widely to differing audiences in a concise, compelling manner both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to make clear recommendations and form opinions without complete knowledge of the future
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • A proven understanding of pipelines and market access logistics

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Downstream head office in Mississauga, located at 2489 North Sheridan Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
