Job Overview

Reporting to the team leader, point of sale (POS) host systems, you will play a key role in supporting and leading the future development of our POS card processing technology for our retail business and transaction processing. You will provide technical mentorship and support day-to-day tasks, issue resolution, and review system improvements to increase the reliability and robustness of the retail hosts (POS and point of sale activation (POSA)) and module offline database (MOD) system.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement changes and fixes with quality assurance and production environments and assist in architecting, designing, and implementing robust and cost effective solutions to meet the demands of the business
  • Support and ensure reliable operations and maximal uptime of national POS host systems and the MOD system on a 24/7 basis
  • Share knowledge and offer technical mentoring to developers and support staff for our internal POS transaction platform, Mobila
  • Act as the authority for all Mobila applications assisting with all Mobila and MOD interfaces with internal and external applications, maintaining all settlement processing and responding to questions
  • Follow enterprise standards and policies while working with customers in operations
  • Design, develop, test and implement requests for service
  • Develop solutions for projects based on business demands and assist in crafting new systems to continuously improve our current systems
  • Complete maintenance and testing of disaster recovery plans

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum five years of operations experience with similar point of sale card processing technologies in retail and/or banking environments
  • A related post-secondary education in computer science or information technology would be an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Highly skilled and knowledgeable in: C/C++ programming, Unix, Database programming, Oracle Databases, PL/SQL and Pro C programming, Microsoft O/S, Systems design and architecture
  • IST switch knowledge and experience and understanding of programming standards and methodologies
  • Experience in real-time mission critical application environments
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Well-versed in business processes and demands in various areas of retail as well as current trends and future POS technologies which can be applied to business demands

Working Conditions

  • This position is based in Mississauga, Ontario at Sheridan Park
  • Occasional travel to all Suncor operational locations, including international locations
