Team Lead, Accounting Supply

Job Overview

Reporting to the manager, downstream inventory and supply accounting, you will be responsible for accounting-related activities related to the western region supply orbit, within our supply and trading business. These responsibilities include the supply and terminalling of hydrocarbon product across western Canada, purchasing and sales to third parties and marketing of oil sands diesel.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead a team that is responsible for the timely completion of month-end processes, to ensure financial results are accurately recorded into SAP
  • Validate all data/results for western supply orbit, including any variances to budget and inventory
  • Manage intercompany invoices between Suncor entities for hydrocarbon-related sales and intercompany journal entries
  • Develop, implement and maintain audit controls, systems, business processes, procedures and controls that are required to lead the western region operations
  • Collaborate with information technology, supply operations and other key partners on new initiatives and new scenarios that are related to supply agreements, accurate set up of agreements and transaction management
  • Collaborate with external partners to resolve contract questions and work with a growing number of third party terminals, rail companies, truck carriers, refineries, commodity tax, export and domestic counterparties

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • Five or more years of post-designation experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • Bachelor degree in finance, accounting or other related field
  • Completion of your chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation is required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Intermediate to expert skills in SAP, including the MM module
  • You effectively lead a team while ensuring deliverables are met and accurate information is provided to our customers
  • You collaborate with key partners to improve processes and increase efficiencies while presenting information in an effective, relevant and accurate manner
  • As an effective leader you hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
