Corporate Security Advisor / Conseiller, sécurité générale

You will use your expertise to:

  • Ensure the consistent application of Corporate Security policies, standards and requirements across all Suncor sites
  • Act as the first point of contact with Corporate Security for all matters relating to security for a given site or portfolio of sites
  • Report all security incidents and oversee an effective and timely incident response
  • Analyze and identify evolving trends and behaviours that have the potential to compromise site security and prepare reports and recommendations to address these risks
  • Work with operations to determine the physical security requirements to address risk, increase productivity and lower costs
  • Coordinate the design, installation, management, maintenance and repair of security systems
  • Provide assistance and support to Emergency Response Plans and render assistance to the Emergency Operations Centre

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years of security experience gained in an industrial setting
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Fluency in both English and French
  • Superior computing skills
  • A valid driver’s licence, clean driving record and valid passport
  • The capability to obtain a secret level security clearance
  • Sound working knowledge of security program design, risk and threat assessment, security policy development, physical security design and crisis management planning
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Oil and gas experience
  • Post-secondary studies in criminology, police studies, risk management or safety
  • Security or related certification e.g. Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
  • Working knowledge of access control, alarm systems and CCTV technology
  • Highly motivated, well-organized and a proven team player who exhibits a consistently positive attitude with attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently while handling multiple assignments simultaneously, establish priorities and meet schedules

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Montreal office, located at 11701 Sherbrooke Street East
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • You must be prepared to travel any operational site in the United States, Canada and internationally
