Reliability Engineer / Ingénieur, fiabilité

As part of a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals, you will provide the required technical support to ensure efficient and reliable operations. You are committed to providing solutions to chronic equipment problems, and initiate or participate in studies on the failure of stationary and rotating equipment. You will also analyze equipment performance reports in order to identify and implement areas for improvement so that your area's reliability is not only maintained, but lifted.

Working closely with our maintenance and operations group, you will have meaningful impact on achieving our desired results. You will get to visit the production areas and the mechanical shop and conduct on-site tests to bolster your analysis or to measure equipment performance.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide technical expertise to operations regarding technologies and methods for improving equipment reliability
  • Participate in operations’ problem-solving meetings
  • Compile a list of repetitive failures and remedy their causes through the application of failure analysis techniques
  • Develop projects for a five to 10 year reliability improvement plan
  • Assist our maintenance and turnaround groups in the process of identifying, planning and executing work on equipment (generate repair/improvement notices, temporary installation, etc.)
  • Provide timely technical expertise to maintenance personnel in the field during the course of repair work
  • Manage the proper use of techniques for the detection of equipment operating conditions (vibration analysis, multivariable condition trends, infrared, ultrasound, etc.)
  • Establish priorities for the area's capital expenditure budget in collaboration with the area team
  • Assist critical project definitions, review drawings and follow-up on deficiencies

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Fluent in French (spoken and written)
  • Two years or more of experience in heavy industry, or the equivalent
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Good standing with the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Dedication to employee health and safety and the environment
  • Strong non-authoritative, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Flawless organizational and priority management skills disciplined in upholding standards with regards to proper documentation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a client-focused approach
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an aptitude for self-guided learning
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • An understanding of compliant application of technical requirements for piping
  • A technical diploma in mechanics

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work at our Montréal refinery, located at 11701 Sherbrooke Street East
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
