Co-op positions at Suncor are more than just a work term. In this position, you will support the plant engineers in the management of capital and expense projects and provide on-going technical support to the terminal operations.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Provide technical engineering support to terminal operations for equipment and process changes and replacements
  • Support plant engineers in all phases of assigned multidisciplinary capital projects
  • Support the development and implementation of process safety information to ensure terminal facilities meet all regulatory requirements and development of process safety information
  • Identify scope, evaluate, recommend, and implement opportunities to continuously improve safety and reliability
  • Troubleshoot terminal operational and reliability issues and recommend solutions
  • Build strong, positive relationships in order to help solve broad, complex problems and apply findings

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrolment in a formal Mechanical or Chemical co-op program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

Preference for:

  • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary, integrated team environment, and have exceptional interpersonal skills in order to positively collaborate with internal and external partners
  • A self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset who is results oriented and motivated by accuracy
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and other Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to internal and external audiences
  • Time management skills
  • Prior industry experience is an asset

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Oakville terminal located at 3275 Rebecca Street
  • This is an 8 or 12 month work term, starting in May 2021
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
