Job Overview

If you are you a self-starter who is passionate about safety, building positive relationships, and problem solving, then we have the role for you! Reporting to the refinery maintenance manager, you will coordinate maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient and timely execution of preventative and predictive maintenance plans to support continued production at our Sarnia refinery.

 Key Accountabilities

  • Provide visible field leadership in tool box talks, safety meetings, workplace observations and field tours
  • Review field level risk assessment (FLRA) cards to support safe work
  • Support and encourage our safety culture by following processes including near-miss reporting, incident reporting and leading investigations
  • Collaborate and build positive relationships with cross-functional teams (CFT) to drive continuous improvement in support of our day-to-day activities while accommodating high-risk, urgent work
  • Manage contractor performance and ensure the proper use of sign sheets, FLRAs, job hazard analysis, and appropriate contractor training
  • Provide work completion and schedule updates to facilities partners, the scheduler and the appropriate trades to achieve desired results
  • Provide job feedback to support planning, supply chain and reliability improvements
  • Work with the foreman to remove roadblocks and ensure the successful completion of the work

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Five or more years of field supervision and/or planning experience
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred
  • Valid Journeyman Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Certificate or technical diploma is preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

 Skills and Knowledge:

  • Computer proficiency, specifically in SAP, Primavera and Microsoft Office suite
  • Technical understanding of the oil and gas industry and mechanical equipment, such as regular maintenance processes for exchangers, valves, compressors, piping circuits and analyzers
  • Knowledgeable with a proven record of adhering to standards, policies and procedures
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, partner demands, and work within both short- and longer-term timelines
  • You constantly interact with others across a multitude of business units and effectively collaborate with them to build positive relationships

 Working Conditions

  • This is a highly demanding position, requiring you to be available to manage extended periods of increased workload
  • Shift is Monday to Friday with periodic changes to a maintenance schedule as required to accommodate outages and turnarounds
  • Time will be split 70/30 between an office environment and field activity
  • You will be required to use ladders and complete field tours on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers and perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
