Job Overview

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team in Sarnia, Ontario? Are you committed and passionate about building positive relationships, working in a fast paced dynamic environment and problem solving, then we have the role for you! Reporting to the team leader, procurement, you will be accountable for supporting daily operational requirements including planned and unplanned urgent work requests as well as actively examining future business needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build positive relationships and collaborate with internal partners, including other supply chain departments, and our external suppliers to implement the most effective procurement channel and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of purchase orders
  • Plan supply chain operations activities to supply materials and services to meet the requirements of scheduled activities and maintenance
  • Improve the quality of service by meeting the demands of multiple clients including external partners, with the appropriate sense of urgency
  • Address procurement issues independently and raise those which are outstanding
  • Educate internal partners on supply chain procedures to ensure adherence
  • Ensure all procurement activities are aligned with purchasing strategy and procurement plan as well as actively address any identified deficiencies in the plan
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand current and future demand
  • Communicate with all partners to manage changing delivery requirements
  • Collaborate with category management and contract management teams on strategy work
  • Craft individual annual objectives, measures, and performance targets aligned with targets

Required Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum one year of working experience in the supply chain field (i.e. buyer, expediter, or previous experience in materials management or logistics)
  • Oil and gas industry experience is preferred
  • Post-secondary education in business, supply chain or equivalent education is preferred
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Skills and Knowledge:

  • You possess knowledge of supply chain management (SCM) concepts and practices
  • Experience with SAP procurement modules is preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter who possesses strong communication skills, and are able to contribute effectively in a team environment to achieve the best results and deliver the most value to the organization
  • Strong problem solver with proven analytical skills who is capable of working with the business unit to find alternative solutions

  • You thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities, challenging demands, and strict deadlines
  • Flexibility required to support business requirements for unplanned events including nights and weekends due to emergency “on-call” requirements or due to the cyclical nature of the workload
