Process Engineer

You will use your expertise to:

  • Demonstrate dedication and support of our Journey to Zero safety culture by supporting initiatives
  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations required to address process equipment or unit performance problems with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Oversee or participate in reviews of new projects or proposed changes to refinery equipment and procedures
  • Craft scoping studies and design basis memorandums outlining recommendations for improvement by applying applicable engineering standards
  • Calculate the economic justification for capital project options
  • Participate or manage hazard reviews for capital projects
  • Provide technical assistance to operations for specialized activities
  • Build positive relationships to coordinate special activities to assist operations such as catalyst changes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five or more years of experience in refining or a related field
  • Professional engineering designation
  • Bachelor of science degree; preferably in chemical engineering or equivalent education

Preference for:

  • Ability to apply professional knowledge in initiating and/or conducting complex assignments requiring modification of established guidelines and procedures with proven ability to analyze, define, and solve problems while learning and applying information technology
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • You possess a deep understanding of refinery processes to make sound recommendations for process safety corrective actions
  • You are highly motivated, resourceful, resilient and committed to continuous improvement

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • You thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities, challenging demands and strict deadlines
  • Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
