You will use your expertise to:

  • Demonstrate dedication and support of our Journey to Zero safety culture by supporting initiatives
  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations required to address process equipment or unit performance problems with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Oversee or participate in reviews of new projects or proposed changes to refinery equipment and procedures
  • Craft scoping studies and design basis memorandums outlining recommendations for improvement by applying applicable engineering standards
  • Calculate the economic justification for capital project options
  • Participate or manage hazard reviews for capital projects
  • Provide technical assistance to operations for specialized activities
  • Build positive relationships to coordinate special activities to assist operations such as catalyst changes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Experience in refining or a related field
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Designation
  • A deep understanding of refinery processes to make sound recommendations for process safety corrective actions
  • An ability to apply professional knowledge in initiating and/or conducting complex assignments requiring modification of established guidelines and procedures
  • A proven ability to analyze, define, and solve problems while learning and applying information technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Relocation support will be provided
  • We require qualified and safety-focused employees for business-critical roles that maintain our commitment to operational excellence and reliable operations. We are using technology to conduct virtual interviews to adhere to physical distancing recommendations and we are well set up for remote onboarding and orientation
