Come and join our reliability engineering team at our Sarnia refinery and build your resume with a company that offers challenges, respect, support, and some fun along the way. As the Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will be an integral part of the team, working in the refinery operating units in close proximity to operating equipment. You will offer exposure to maintenance issues and mechanical equipment and requires safety focus.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Assess and maintain the health of all rotating equipment onsite through an integrated vibration program
  • Make recommendations on findings, including necessary repairs or continued monitoring
  • Assist in organization and completion of equipment criticality prioritization
  • Assist a cross-functional team in the development, organization and completion of equipment strategies
  • Support reliability specialists to determine failure history and analyze specific problem equipment
  • Implement preventative maintenance tasks into our maintenance program
  • Update equipment master data records
  • Complete an improvement project that meets the requirements of an internship
  • Participate in Turnaround/outage events as required
  • Capture data and develop monthly key performance indicators

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Current enrolment in a formal mechanical engineering co-op program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term

Preference for:

  • Prior oil and gas industry experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A motivated self-starter who can work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as good time management skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
