Are you a self-starter who is passionate about technology and looking for your next career move? If you are a strong problem solver and interested in becoming our next domain expert in SCADA, then we have the role for you! You will be a key member of the Sherwood Park team with a strong focus on ensuring high availability of computerized monitoring and control systems.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Support and maintain the Pipeline SCADA, Batch Tracking, PI Historian, Leak Detection and Communication systems which provide remote operation of Suncor’s pipelines
  • Take on progressively more challenging responsibilities in programming and data analysis, software application configuration and project work
  • Initiate and/or conduct complex assignments requiring modification of established guidelines and procedures
  • Support all components pertaining to SCADA, including the configuration of Remote Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and data mapping to third party systems
  • Manage day-to-day as well as long term reliability of the SCADA system to ensure high data integrity and uptime
  • Verify and correct SCADA configuration on all new and modified installations during our project commissioning phase
  • Provide recommendations and budgetary numbers for required SCADA system upgrades and expansions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the reliability of our assets
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technical team members on SCADA processes and tools

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years of industrial automation work experience as an Engineer, Technician, Technologist, or valid Journeyperson
  • Experience with Industrial Computer Networking and Server Virtualization
  • An understanding of SQL
  • Familiarity with “C++” or C#, VBA or VB.NET.
  • Strong communication skills which allow you to collaborate effectively to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • A continuous improvement mindset and you are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, as well as having a strong sense of accountability
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Alignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • A post-secondary education
  • Experience with Cyber-Security
  • Experience with pipeline Batch Tracking.
  • Familiarity with PLC’s with preference given to Rockwell and Modicon   

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Pipeline Office in Sherwood Park, located at 241 Kaska Road
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours and occasional travel based on business needs
  • Able to work with minimal supervision as well as providing on-call support during off hours
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • Relocation support will be provided as needed
