Working with seasoned Project Engineers and Project Managers, you will provide support on many construction projects at Suncor’s Base Plant. You will assist in preparation of cost estimates, construction schedules, project scope documents and have the opportunity to lead your own projects in a fast and active environment. You will work with engineering consultants in preparation of construction work packages, provide support for contractors in the field and prepare regular project status reports.
You will use your expertise to:
- Assist with tracking soil movement, analyzing survey data and producing weekly maps
- Support the coordination of projects, ordering materials, organizing deliveries, and managing project timelines
- Creation of project scope descriptions and maps
- Tracking and scheduling of projects, evaluate contractor resource allocation
- Verify dispatch data integrity and data analysis
- Report and investigate daily on production and performance of the mine’s fleet using the dispatch system and an SQL database
- Produce ore plan and inventory spreadsheets
- Small-scale projects such as road designs or small civil designs
- Assist with contractor production tracking, management and execution
- Provide direct technical support to all members of the Mine Operations team
We’d like to review your application if you have…
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
- Current enrolment in a formal co-op program in 3rd or 4th year Mining Engineering at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term (attach your transcripts with your application and clearly indicate the length of work term for which you are available)
- A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
- The ability to continually seek knowledge and understanding to strive to understand the systems, processes and hazards in and around the workplace
- Alignment with our values
Preference for:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Minescape and/or Mine Sight
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel - ability to work with complex spreadsheets
- Experience with SAP
- Previous oil and gas or construction experience
- Collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:
- There are roles available in the following locations; Calgary & Fort McMurray for an 8 or 12-month work term, from January 2020 – December 2020
- This position has been identified as safety sensitive
- Relocation support will be provided if approved for the position; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
